Jin Shin Jyutsu for “Happy Ears”
If you suffer from ear discomforts, you’re certainly not alone. Ear issues can be more than just annoying; they can disrupt daily life and affect overall wellbeing. The good news is that Jin Shin Jyutsu offers gentle, natural support for the ears. In this article, I’ll share a simple self-help hold that is both soothing and comforting.

An important Jin Shin Jyutsu energy for the ears
Jin Shin Jyutsu works with all our energy pathways that move through the body. Some of these energy pathways are related to our physical organs like the spleen and stomach, for instance. We call these organ flows.
The Small Intestine is an organ flow in Jin Shin Jyutsu that is especially useful for the ears. This flow travels from the hands, up through the arms and shoulders, and passes close to the ears, sweeping across the face and over the top of the head. Because of this pathway, harmonising the small intestine flow can soothe ear discomforts, especially when there is:
- A sense of blocked or congested ears
- The lingering sensation of “water in the ears” after a cold
- A change in ear pressure caused by flying or high altitudes
The exercise for happy ears
This self-help hold is easy to learn and can be practiced anywhere. It gently engages two key Safety Energy Locks (SELs), which are spheres of concentrated energy on the body where energy tends to gather or become stuck. The goal is not to press or manipulate, but simply to rest the hands in place and allow the energy to shift.
Position 1
Place left hand over left shoulder at SEL 11 and
place right hand on right chest at SEL 13 then

Position 2
Keep left hand over left shoulder at SEL 11 and
Place right hand over right shoulder at SEL 11

Position 3
Keep right hand over right shoulder at SEL 11 and
Place left hand on left chest at SEL 13
