Breathe more easily with Jin Shin Jyutsu
A powerful aspect of Jin Shin Jyutsu is that we can employ the hands and fingers to help ourselves, anytime, anywhere, in any situation! There are many different finger poses, or mudras that we can use. In this article, I share how to breathe more easily using two dynamic Jin Shin Jyutsu mudras.

Master Jiro Murai was his own testimony
Jin Shin Jyutsu was rediscovered and developed over 100 years ago by a man called Jiro Murai from Japan. When he was 26 he was declared terminally ill. He asked his family to take him up to their cabin in the mountains where he wanted to die alone. He asked them to leave him for seven days and to collect him on the eighth day in whatever state he was.
While he was up in the cabin, Jiro Murai decided not to just wait for death to come. He practiced sitting Zen meditation and several mudras or finger poses that he had learned about.
So he fasted, meditated and practiced mudras.
During this time, he went in and out of consciousness. Every day he lost more and more heat from his body. On the 7th day he felt like he was taken from a freezer and thrown into a furnace.
When the tremendous heat in his body subsided he realised to his amazement that he was totally healed.
He got down on his knees and thanked his creator. He also vowed that he would dedicate the rest of his life to the study and practice of what he called Jin Shin Jyutsu.
Two Mudras to Help the EXHALE and the INHALE
Our breath consists of two aspects: the EXHALE and the INHALE. When EXHALE and INHALE are in balance, we are in harmony.
Very often, though, we need a bit of help to balance the exhale and the inhale.
It is easy to get dis-harmonised by not EXHALING or LETTING GO properly.
Mary Burmeister, one of Master Jiro Murai’s most dedicated students and the person responsible for introducing Jin Shin Jyutsu to the West, says: “We need to EXHALE and empty the vessel (body) first so that we can receive the INHALE (pure energy).”
To help us breathe we can use the following Jin Shin Jyutsu mudras.
Hold each position for two or more minutes and enjoy!
Mudra 1: EXHALE AND LET GO
Left Side:
Place the right thumb along the palm side of the left middle finger, and place the other fingers of the right hand on the back side of the left middle finger (shown below).

Mudra 2: INHALE AND RECEIVE PURE ENERGY
