A simple Jin Shin Jyutsu hold to warm the body

Recently I went for a long walk in a beautiful part of the English countryside and got caught out by the weather. It was much wetter and colder than I expected. So today I share a simple and effective Jin Shin Jyutsu hold to warm or cool the body.

It was truly duck weather. I felt really chilly but luckily I was able to employ a specific energy site to help me warm up. It worked so quickly that after a few minutes I was able to enjoy the weather as much as the ducks!

The magic of Safety Energy Lock #8

In Jin Shin Jyutsu, we have what’s known as ‘Safety Energy Locks’ (SELs) throughout our bodies, and each one has a specific function. By learning where they are and how to work with them, we can control how we feel, wherever and whenever we are.

Today’s self help hold involves SEL 8, located on the outside of the knee. SEL 8 is wonderful to help balance our body temperature, whether we feel hot or cold.

How to warm the body with Jin Shin Jyutsu hold

Feeling cold, chilly?
Place your RIGHT HAND on the outside of your RIGHT KNEE. This will help WARM you up.

On this damp day, with beautiful autumn colours all around, I found myself unexpectedly cold, so I stopped for a moment and simply placed my right hand on the outside of my right knee. Almost immediately, I felt a comforting warmth spreading through me. I’m always amazed at how quickly it works.

Feeling too warm?
Place your LEFT HAND on the outside of your LEFT KNEE. This COOLS your body down.

When you’re unsure, hold both knees

If you’re out and about and can’t remember which side warms and which side cools the body, don’t worry! Simply place both hands on the outside of the knees at both SEL 8. Your body will automatically adjust to the temperature you need. It’s one of the many amazing things about our bodies—they just know what to do!
