The Index Fingers in Jin Shin Jyutsu: Get more FLOW

Hold the INDEX fingers for more FLOW

Everything is energy. When energy moves without obstruction through our being, there is FLOW. When energy is stuck, there is stagnation. That stagnation starts at the emotional, or ATTITUDE level of FEAR. Because FEAR is the biggest impediment to FLOW. Fortunately, holding our INDEX fingers in Jin Shin Jyutsu can help us harmonise the FEAR and get more FLOW. So easy, yet so dynamic!

More good news about the INDEX fingers

The index finger is a wonderful tool for calming the nerves and easing anxiety. Whether you’re about to give a presentation or just feeling a bit unsettled, holding your index finger can bring a sense of calm and stability.

By simply holding the index finger you can also help balance the energy functions of the kidney and bladder, making it particularly effective for regulating water balance in the body.

A personal story: balancing WATER in the body

I had a fascinating experience while living in London years ago. One day, I was travelling home from work on the underground, but the train was stuck at the station and wasn’t going anywhere fast. I was eager to get home, though, because I was very uncomfortable: I had a full bladder and my eyes were exceedingly dry due to wearing contact lenses.

Faced with both too much and too little water in different parts of my body, I decided to hold my index finger. Remarkably, within seconds, my bladder felt more comfortable, and my eyes were less dry. This experience highlights the power of holding the index fingers in Jin Shin Jyutsu.

Such simple, yet dynamic self help

I love that Jin Shin Jyutsu is such a practical self help practice. It’s so easy to hold your index fingers at any time, anywhere. They are there for you 24/7!

To get the most out of the experience, sit quietly in a comfortable seat. Close your eyes. Gently wrap one hand around either index finger; hold the one that is most natural and comfortable for you. There’s no need to apply pressure – just hold and relax for as long as you like. The longer you hold, the more you are likely to feel.

Discover your own way to hold fingers

One of my readers reminded me that it’s not necessary to hold the thumbs and fingers they way I show you. You can find your own comfortable way to hold fingers. Experiment! As I say: “The most important thing is to be comfortable.” And as Mary Burmeister says: “BE your own testimony”.
